J-Adam Smith, a certified paranormal investigator and founder of Haunted Knoxville Ghost Tours, assisted new paranormal investigator trainees on how to conduct a paranormal investigation.

Sangria's in Market Square provided the starting point for Smith and his new team of interested ghost hunters. However, before the tour could journey into the cool night, each new investigator was handed an investigation tool and shown the proper way to operate the device.

Smith takes non believers and believers on the tour as long as they show enthusiasm and a willingness to learn new things.

"I am a little on the fence," said Joel DeSantis, a graduate of UT and tour participant, about his belief in the paranormal.

The tour starts at Market Square and works its way around downtown Knoxville. Smith provides an in depth explanation in the reason each stop is in his tour.

"My investigations are based on historical facts and hours of research," said Smith. Through the tour, he unveils the events that led to a spot becoming a "ground zero" for paranormal activity.

"I really liked learning the history that led to downtown Knoxville becoming what it is today," said Andy Lambert, a UT student and tour participant.

The tour ended in front of the historic Tennessee Theater and left the newly trained investigators with a sense of pride in their new-found skill and an appreciation for Smith and his Haunted Knoxville Ghost Tours.
