Rock photographer Robert Knight was the guest during the first hour of Coast to Coast on Sunday, March 27 and according to Robert, Sammy Hagar isn't the only rock star to ever have a close encounter. In the world of rock and roll, it happens all the time.

Over the years, Robert Knight has photographed over 6,000 rock stars and in between shoots he's had time to become friends with many of them. He says many of the stars have had UFO experiences and they're just waiting for someone to tell them to – someone who won't think they're crazy. Someone like Knight, an avid listener to Coast to Coast.

According to Knight, rock stars are particularly open to UFO experiences because of the lifestyles they lead. They're usually awake in the middle of the night after having been on stage or in the recording booth all evening, and they're outside getting some fresh air or relaxing. They happen to look up at the stars and – bingo – there's a UFO.

Before you start doubting Knight, he did say that most of the stories we hear about rock stars partying all night are exaggerations. They're regular people, just like us, who happen to be awake in the middle of the night – the prime time for UFO spotting.

Knight also says that Brad Whitford and Joe Perry, members of Aerosmith, are both regular listeners to Coast to Coast. So, before we go any further...

Brad and Joe, if you're reading this, how about a comment down below? Thanks, guys! Big hugs!

OK, Knight says that Brad told him about a UFO experience he had in New York City. Aerosmith was working on an album late into the night and Brad went up onto the roof of the building to check out the lunar eclipse that was supposed to occur that night. Instead, he saw a very large, triangle-shaped craft, moving soundlessly and low on the horizon. The craft was so close he could even see a red stripe on its side. It began moving in circular motions and was soon joined by another, identical craft. The two did a little circular dance and then shot off, straight up into the sky.

On another occasion, while in Virginia Beach, Brad also saw 2 lights in the sky. They started moving toward him and suddenly split into 14 lights. These lights began dancing around the night sky, leaving light trails in their wake and then just as suddenly as they appeared, they disappeared up into the heavens.

Knight has heard of UFO encounters from such legendary rock stars as: Jeff Beck, Mick Jagger, Peter Frampton, Slash, Cheryl Crowe and even Jimi Hendrix.

On the subject of Hendrix, Knight says Hendrix had a profound interest in UFOs which was reflected in his lyrics and the artwork on his album. At one time, Knight approached Hendrix on the subject of UFOs but the answers he gave weren't clear until years later. Knight believes that Hendrix actually sometimes felt he was from another world.

Knight tells of an eerie encounter he had with Stevie Ray Vaughan, the night before Vaughan was killed in a tragic helicopter accident. Knight and Vaughan had spent the first day of a 2 day shoot together, talking, and at one point, Vaughan told Knight that he felt he didn't have much time left to live. The conversation about life and death went on into the night and the next day, Knight and Vaughan met for the photo shoot.

While shooting pictures of Vaughan, Knight says his arms and hands suddenly felt like ice, so much so that he had to turn away and was unable to hold the camera. Vaughan rushed to his side to see what was wrong and when Knight told him what was happening Vaughan said that he, too, had the same sensation in his arms and hands.

The photo shoot continued and later that evening, Knight walked to the helicopter with Vaughan. The last thing Vaughan said to him was, “listen if anything every happens to me you'll know me when you hear me.” And, with that, he boarded the helicopter.

Many years later, while on the road with Cheryl Crowe, Knight ran into a person who used to work for Vaughan. He said that he had also spent some time with Vaughan that day and that Vaughan had also told him his feelings of impending doom. This person had also experienced the same icy coldness that Knight and Vaughan had shared.

It's interesting, Knight notes, that in 3 frames from that final photo shoot, there appears to be a life force emanating from Vaughan's image. As you move through the frames it looks like some piece of energy comes into Stevie Ray from the back, moves through his torso and exits out into the air. Knight has analyzed the photos repeatedly and still has no explanation for this energy light,.
