WAYNESBORO, Pa. - As Judith McLean sees it, it's one thing to have paranormal experiences and another to understand them.

McLean, who lives in Waynesboro, tackles the techniques and translations she says are needed to communicate with the spirits in her new book "Ascension Journey: A Handbook for Healing through the Dimensions."

McLean said she's been in tune with her intuitive abilities for 30 years, honing them and reaching understandings, such as not all advice from spirits is good advice.

"There are a lot of pitfalls with contacting deceased beings," she said.

"Ascension Journey" could appeal to both newcomers to paranormal communication and people who have practiced it for some time, McLean said. It talks about how to discern who or what you are in contact with, she said.

Exercises at the end of each chapter provide assistance, she said.

McLean is an ordained minister who studied pastoral counseling and religion. She and her husband moved to Waynesboro nearly four years ago.

The editing, publishing and marketing process have consumed a year since McLean finished writing.

"Hopefully, it serves as a handbook for people who are religious or spiritual who want to learn more about healing discernment," she said.

One subject tackled in "Ascension Journey" is battlefield cleansing, which involves cleaning away trauma from areas associated with war. One example provided by McLean is a Civil War battlefield.

A battlefield would have remnants of emotion, spirits wandering around, energy imprints from blood, and ghosts repeating the same act, according to McLean.

"Ascension Journey" can be purchased at www.amazon.com.
