A PSYCHIC able to predict the course of the celebrity world is set to star at a festival being launched in Llangollen later this month.
Dean Maynard, nicknamed “Midas” for his ability to bring good fortune to sports teams and other famous figures, will be opening the first ever Llangollen Lights festival on March 21, and says he is looking forward to meeting other specialists in the supernatural.
“It’ll be really good to get so many like-minded individuals together, and for members of the public to be able to meet some of the experts in the fields of ghost hunting and the paranormal. It’s the first time this event has ever been held and it’s something I’m really looking forward to.”
“I haven’t been to North Wales before but I’ve already been told by many people that it’s a beautiful place, and I’m sure the show will be a great success with people looking to find out more. It’s about far more than what you might see on episodes of Most Haunted.”
Mr Maynard, currently based in Durham but originally from Reading, Berkshire, says he has helped predict a number of events linked to celebrities and sports stars across the world, and says he is hoping to help bring good luck to visitors to the show, being held at Llangollen Town Hall through March 21 and 22.
He says that having developed and trained his psychic ability since childhood, he has helped bring good luck to celebrities including X-Factor victor Leona Lewis, Superbowl winners the New York Giants, and his home team Reading Football Club among others.
“I think my involvement in the Bring Back Beckham campaign in 2006 was a huge success for me, and after about six months he was eventually brought back into the England squad. People didn’t give me much of a chance at first and just dismissed my efforts, but I do still think that was a great result,” he said.
“One of my more recent predictions was that early this year we would have very heavy snowfall, and that came true, but I’ve also predicted one of the hottest summers for this year, and I think a lot of people are hoping I’m right on that!”
As well opening the festival, Mr Maynard will also himself play a high-profile role at the show, and is hoping to meet visitors to share his predictions with them.
Admission to the Llangollen Lights festival costs £2.50, with free entry for accompanied children. For more information contact either 01978 869485 or 01978 861468, or visit www.llangollenlights.co.uk
