It is known that about three million citizens inhabit the city of Chicago, but the number of spirits that lurk these streets of course, remains a mystery.

There are countless reports of well-known buildings in Chicago where manifestations of paranormal phenomenons have been witnessed. These range from city trademarks to local stomping grounds and residences; each with a unique haunted tale.

Halloween is just around the corner and in the spirit of the season, I have begun to research such haunts in the city. I have quickly discovered there are a lot of areas that are supposedly cursed.

Why does Chicago seem to be heavily saturated with such tales compared to the other metropolitan regions? Is it due to the fire of 1871 and the countless lives that were spared with unfinished business or perhaps the gratuitous violence of Al Capone, John Dillinger, and the numerous other gangsters that define Chicago's sadistic past?

In the next few weeks I will report on the strange findings of these paranormal hot spots and the supernatural wonders that define the city.
