enver, CO—Is history all in the past?
La Wanna Larson, Black American West Museum: “It wasn’t an evil feeling. It was calm and peaceful.“
Or…is it still here with us?
Larson: “Every single person, who has volunteered here at the museum, has experienced something.“
Something, or someone…it was just too weird for one of those volunteers.
Larson: “He said, ‘I have to go home now because I have to rethink everything I used to think about these things.‘ I mean, he was clearly shaken up.“
Museum executive director La Wanna Larson thinks she knows who is lurking…and, wants to hear even more from her.
Kevin Sampron, Spirit Paranormal Investigations: “The date is October 2nd, 2009. The time is 8:59 p.m.“
Voice recorders in place, cameras rolling…a team of paranormal investigators hope children will stir up the spirit of Doctor Justina Ford.
Pictures aren’t the only way visitors say they’ve seen her.
The first African-American female doctor, west of the Mississippi, lived here.
Larson: “Everyone she took care of referred to her as their best friend.“
Doctor Ford also treated her patients here…the many who couldn’t get care elsewhere because of discrimination, or poverty.
The ghost hunters reported an odd occurrence when they held Doctor Ford’s belonging.
Sampron: “And the same two women, who were mishandling her glasses, said they felt this huge wave of nausea. They felt just very ill. And then, once they left the room, they felt better.“
The official results of the paranormal investigation are still pending. Even if they can’t convince the skeptics, they won’t dissuade the believers.
Larson: “Yes, I believe, because I’ve experienced it. It’s that simple.“
