Proceeds to benefit Detroit's own Fort Wayne
Detroit, Michigan. Historic Fort Wayne has announced the dates for this year “Ghost Toursâ€, hosted by local paranormal investigation team, Metro Paranormal Investigations:
May 16, 2009, June 20th, August 16th, September 19th, October 31st.
The Fort has numerous accounts of being haunted; now it is your turn to do an “investigation†and see for yourself if it is haunted!
The Fort Wayne that many generations of Detroiters know today was built along the banks of the Detroit River in 1845. The fort guarded American soil throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and although its weapons never fired a shot in anger, it became the staging area for American soldiers during the Civil War and both World Wars. The fort today is owned by the City of Detroit and operated by the City of Detroit Parks and Recreation department, in partnership with the Historic Fort Wayne Coalition. As befits a location with such a lengthy and active history, reports throughout the years have told of encounters with ghostly forms and unexplained activity on the grounds. Now, you can explore the hidden jewel in the heart of downtown Detroit and find out for yourself if the stories are just tall tales, or if the old fort is not quite so empty at all . . . . . .
The evening begins with a guided exploration of the Fort and its grounds. Your guides will give you a detailed history of the fort, along with notable unexplained events that have been reported over the last 150 years. At the conclusion of the guided portion of the night, you will have the chance to explore the forts grounds and its many buildings at your leisure. They say the mighty walls of the fort are home to ghosts of the past, are you willing to face them? A portion of the proceeds at these events will go to the fort itself, to help fund future maintenance and renovation projects.
Metro Paranormal Investigations, based in Macomb, Michigan, investigates and researches paranormal claims throughout Metro Detroit and southeast Michigan. Through their extensive time spent at Historic Fort Wayne, MPI has come to appreciate this historic treasure and the team wishes to see the fort restored for future generations to enjoy.
