Weymouth’s Paranormal Invest-igation Team (PIT), that’s who.

Celebrating their first birthday this month, Dorset’s supernatural spies have found themselves in demand for checking out ghostly goings-on across the South West.

But there’s one place they’ve yet to get their chattering teeth into – their home town of Weymouth.

So the 12-strong PIT gang are appealing to premises in the town to come forward with their tales of things that go bump in the night.

Lisa Cooper, one of the founders of the team, said: “We want our town to support us.

“We want to hear from anyone who has experienced any sort of haunting experience in their home or business.

“It will not cost people a dime for us to be called out and we will be able to tell them if there is paranormal activity.”

The team is made up of several of Lisa’s family, many of whom live in their very own haunted house in Somerset Road, Weymouth.

Having experienced spooky shenanigans of their own – including being locked in bedrooms by a particularly mischievous spirit – the family began investigating other hauntings in their spare time.

They established PIT last year and in the last six months alone they have been called to 20-30 instances of ghostly behaviour.

“We love doing it,” said Lisa.

“We don’t want to charge because we see it as a hobby.”

If it’s Ghostbusters you’re after, the team’s equipment should help fulfil your fantasies.

They use a night vision camera and a KII meter, which detects changes in energy and electromagnetic fields.

There is also an EVP – electronic voice phenomenon – which picks up otherwise inaudible background noise that can be fed through a computer to pinpoint spirit sounds.

Lisa and her sister Cara also act as mediums, using their sensory perceptions to detect any traces of haunted activity.

Each investigation takes the group around four hours to complete.

PIT compare themselves to The Atlantic Paranormal Society (Taps), the famous American ghost hunters.

The team has any pictures they take during their investigations checked over by a professional photographic shop.
