The team behind a TV show filmed in one of Derry's oldest homes believe they have stumbled on an amazing discovery which should prove the existence of spirits to non-believers.
The first episode of the BBC show NI's Greatest Haunts was filmed at Prehen House earlier this year and the team behind the show believe they have discovered the trapped spirit of Donegal MP Andrew Knox, stuck in one of the rooms of the house.

Andy Matthews, from Paranormal Study and Investigation, has been communing with spirits for over ten years and has visited spooky places all over the world, however it is the first time his team have ever been able to record the voice of a spirit.

At Prehen House we stumbled across something quite extraordinary and it is a first for investigating paranormal activity. We have found a way of recording voices from the past. From a scientific point of view it sounds ridiculous but it has happened and we still can't work out how or why it has happened."

"The last ten minutes of ther show are very extraordinary. We believe we have recorded the voice of Andrew Knox, the father of Mary Ann Knox, and that he has been trapped in one of the rooms of the house for hundreds of years. It was the only room of the house that hasn't been refurbished."

Andy revealed to the 'Journal' that the spirit was lost and confused, and the team tried to help it move out of the room and viewers of tonight show will be able to hear the spirit's voice asking and answering questions.

He hopes that tonight's show and the rest of the six-part series will make "sceptics sit up and believe in paranormal activity."
Andy said that he wanted to include Prehen House in the first series of NI's Most Haunted, however weren't able to organise it in time.
"I first read about the story of Mary Ann Knox and Half Hanged McNaughton on the internet and I loved it.

Our show visits places with a history attached to it, and including Prehen House became a pet project of mine. The fact that we have come across such an amazing discovery in a small corner of Northern Ireland makes the show worth watching.
