Coming this June 10-11, 2011 at the Haunted Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois is the 15th Annual Haunted America Midwest Conference. The doors open on Friday June 10th at 5 p.m. This will be an action packed weekend full of special speakers, paranormal workshops, group psychic readings, and of course late night ghost hunts. Join host and author Troy Taylor, of The American Ghost Society, in the McGaw Fine Arts Building at the Historic Illinois College, as he will be speaking on the myths, mysteries and misconceptions of the Lemp Family, based on his book, Suicide & Spirits. Some of the special guests include: Rosemary Ellen Guiley (a leading expert on the paranormal and the author of more than 40 books), Tiffany Smith Johnson (a world-renowned psychic, writer, healer, ordained minister and speaker), Patrick Burns (he's best known as the paranormal investigator star of TruTV’s Haunting Evidence), and April Slaughter (the author of the popular traveler’s series book Ghost Hunting Texas, paranormal journalist, and is a leading researcher of EVP-ITC phenomena), just to name a few of the speakers.

Out of the 15 years the Haunted America Midwest Conference has been around, this is the first time it has been held at this historic college.

Illinois College was founded in 1829 by Reverend John M. Ellis, a Presbyterian minister who felt a "seminary of learning" was needed in the new frontier state of Illinois. The college was also a well-known station on the Underground Railroad and a number of tunnels can still be found. Illinois College has held privy to many ghostly tales over the years, including a spirit that is known to frequent the McGaw Fine Arts Building where the bulk of the conference is being held. William Jennings Bryan, an American politician who lost the 1896 and 1900 presidential elections to William McKinley and 16th president Abraham Lincoln are both said to still haunt the college to this day.
